Project Gorgon Update: June 9, 2025
This update brings significant changes to Project Gorgon, primarily focusing on a major engine upgrade to Unity 6. Players should anticipate potential unforeseen bugs and are encouraged to report any unusual occurrences. Along with the engine update, numerous other technical improvements and content adjustments have been implemented.
Technical Improvements and Bug Fixes
The shift to Unity 6 is the most substantial change, promising improved performance and future development capabilities. Beyond this, various fixes address graphical issues, including updated water reflections in outdoor zones, improved fog rendering in Anagoge, and corrected rock collisions near Ratuk in Kur. Several pathfinding problems within Povus Caves have also been rectified. A number of art and prop fixes have been made, such as a Serbule Inn facelift and animation improvements for numerous creature types. The update also includes the following improvements to the game world:
- Serbule Inn has received a visual update.
- The Dark Chapel dungeon has undergone art revisions.
- Water reflections and lighting have been improved in all outdoor areas.
- A graphical glitch between fog and trees in Anagoge has been resolved.
- Rock collision issues near Ratuk in Kur have been fixed.
- The horizon in Rahu has been corrected.
- Issues with the appearance of dropped infernal eggs have been fixed.
- Broken beds in Eltibule and Ilmari have been repaired.
- Fairies now sleep more comfortably in beds.
- A coffin in Truxartis' hideout has been fixed.
- Players can now strafe while swimming and flying.
- Enemies will no longer get stuck on a specific rock in the Necromancer's Courtyard.
- Several pathfinding issues in Povus Caves have been resolved.
- Water rendering problems in Povus Caves (and potentially other dungeons) have been addressed.
New and Updated Content
The update introduces several new gameplay elements:
- A new puzzle in Rahu now rewards lore experience upon completion.
- Furlak in Rahu offers two new quests.
- The quest "Stop the Aktaari! (Repeating)" now requires at least one level 70 combat skill.
- Ungulates are more abundant, easing the experience curve for ungulate genetics leveling.
- More charged boars have been added to the Dark Chapel.
- Dedicated rhino spawns have been added to Rahu and the Fae Realm.
- Analyzing wild horse genes now yields double the experience.
- A previously inaccessible lore item in Eltibule is now interactable.
- The wording of a strange altar in Vidaria has been adjusted for clarity.
- The unmarked altar in Vidaria can now be used every 30 days (previously 90).
- The functionality of a six-sided coin has been reconfigured.
- Ferris Blueheart now interacts only with players above level 30 combat skills.
- Liamu no longer provides a Demonic Research Scroll as a favor.
- The spawn rate of Lesser Behemoths in Vidaria has been increased.
- The spawns of Demonic Overseers and Justiciars in Vidaria have been adjusted to ensure at least one of each type is always present.
- A new Item Sacrifice altar has been added to Serbule Hills.
Monster and Skill Adjustments
Numerous creature types have received animation improvements, including the addition of idle animations to enhance world immersion. Big Golems now explode upon destruction, with their pieces obeying physics (this is tied to a new setting that can be disabled).
Several skill and ability adjustments have been made:
- Corpse Talking skill unlocks have been adjusted to accept alternative skill requirements.
- Ratkin Digestifs now persist through zoning and provide Power Regen, not Health Regen.
- Health restored by Reconstruct 7 has been increased.
- A Druid treasure effect incorrectly dealing Poison damage now correctly deals Nature damage.
- Butterfly Harnesses are now correctly placed in the belt slot.
- Various Druid treasure effects have been corrected to accurately reflect their descriptions and intended functionality.
- Several new synergy bonus levels have been added across various skills and abilities.
User Interface and Settings Changes
The update addresses various UI and settings issues:
- A missing "Genes" button for pets in stables has been fixed.
- The "0 Quests" display error in the quest window has been resolved.
- Long character names no longer wrap improperly in the target UI.
- A work order typo has been corrected.
- A typo in the Ratkin Digestif error message has been fixed.
- The Lore Skill report is now fully up-to-date.
- Shadow rendering has been improved, reducing flickering.
- The Shadow Distance setting is now capped at 500.
